We know sometimes the process moving in or moving out of our storage units may be a bit confusing, so here we hope to clear that up for you! Please take the time to thoroughly read through our FAQ's. They should be able to answer all of your general questions.

  • How do I pay my unit rent?
    We operate solely through our online system. You can conveniently set up auto payments, pay ahead of time, and easily control your account.
  • How long can I rent a unit for & what is the minimum rental period?
    There is no maximum length, stay as long as you'd like. The minimum length to rent a unit would be one month. We operate on a month-by-month basis, but you can move out at any time.
  • Is tenant protection required?
    Yes, we require all renters to have protection on their personal items that are stored at the facility. Renters can choose one of our provided options or may provide their own proof of coverage. Check your homeowners and renter insurance policy, it might cover this!
  • Do I need my own lock?
    No, we provide you with a highly secure disc lock, free of charge at move-in. You are the only one with a key. Disc lock may be kept at move-out.
  • What is the best way to reach management?
    The best way to reach management is via text or email. We have limited hours to be reached by phone. If you prefer to call us, leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • What are the sizes & prices available today?
    Click our 'Move in Today' button located on the top right of the screen to see all units that are available today including their sizes and pricing. This button will lead you to our partner website where we seamlessly manage all customers and units.
  • Can I rent a unit & move in today?
    Yes! Please follow the link on our homepage, using any web-enabled device, to view our open units. Once you choose your unit, make an account, and pay the administrative fee & rent, then you will gain access to your unit!
  • Can I leave items in my unit if I don't want them anymore?
    No, we are a not a garbage disposal business.
  • Can I secure things to the walls of storage unit?
    No, you cannot attach anything to any walls, floor or ceiling of your storage unit.
  • Are there climate or temperature controlled units available?
    No, our facility consists of garage-style units.
  • What can I not storage in the storage unit?
    Medication, grain, explosives, flammable or hazardous materials or liquids, paint, chemicals, toxic or corrosive materials, contraband or other illegal or prohibited goods. Also, irreplaceable, extremely rare or difficult to appraise property is prohibited.
  • How do I move out?
    Please notify us about your departure 7 days before the end of the month. Clean & broom sweep the unit. Then, send us a picture of your clean & empty unit via text or email. Once we receive the photo, we will move you out of our software.
  • Does Great Northern Mini Storage have insurance on my personal items?
    No, you are required to provide your own coverage for your personal items.
  • Can I access my storage unit 24/7 or are there specific hours of operation?
    Yes, you will have access to your unit 24/7.
